Glock 19 Serial Numbers

It is my understanding, that Glock's with a two letter serial number, are eligable for a factory upgrade.don't take this as the written word, but you may want to look into it further. Your Irish friend above is correct; for G19's it's 2-alpha SN's thru 'XK'. Contact your nearest certified armorer, or Glock Stocking dealer, who should know one or be able to get in contact w/one via his District Mgr. (BTW, a Stocking Dealer is not just anyone who sells Glocks.) You can also contact Glock in Smyrna at 770-432-1202 FIRST to ascertain if they've a record of that SN having the upgrade already done. Also, Glockmeister seems to have an Armorer lookup feature, by state, It will be easiest if you try the armorer route first as they can simply order the parts on your behalf and put them in, vs sending the pistol to Glock in Smyrna. Note: If it hasn't been done, the upgrade kit is FREE to you.

Your armorer may charge a nominal bench charge for the few minutes of work in giving the pistol a thorough going over, but it certainly shouldn't be more than what the freight for your pistol back to Smyrna would be. Any ethical armorer won't try to rape you for the few minutes it actually takes to install the parts. An final alternative would be to attend a GSSF match near you, where there is a top-notch armorer on duty all weekend for the event who will be happy to give your pistol a thorough physical/upgrade while you wait. Schedule at FWIW, if you've a true 1st generation G19 you have an item of quite some value to anyone who collects Glocks.

Feb 13, 2014 - Looking at a used Glock 19 Gen 4, I'm curious about when it was made. The serial number should be WWF878 (from the sale tag, not the. Feb 19, 2008 - Hello, I purchased my Glock 19 several years ago as a used Model at a Gun Show at the Leesport Farmer's Market(BerksCounty).

Gaston Glock may have not known that he was helping to create what would become the world’s most popular handgun when he called together some of Europe’s top engineers in the early 1980’s. With much of the newly designed pistol made of lightweight but extremely durable polymers, the Glock soon developed a reputation as a handgun that was accurate, tough and never failed when needed.

Because of the popularity of the gun, and the idea that they lasted so long, interest grew in being able to track exactly when a gun was manufactured. Fortunately from the beginning, the Glock Corporation ensured they had a serial numbering system that would be easily understood and maintained.

Basic Numbers

AA000 was the start of the serial numbers. When it rolled over at AA999 they began again at AB000 up to ZZ999. At that point the letters rolled over to AAA000. That pattern continued. If your pistol has a US at the serial number end that means it was an United State import.

Example Dates

The AA series started on October 1986 and took until March 1992 to hit ZZ. AAA started in March 1992 and by only September 94 reached AZZ. By January 2000, the numbers started with DLU. Ten years later in January 2010 Glock was using PCL.

Custom Numbers

Often police departments with large orders would ask for custom serial numbers. The number would start with the department initials followed by 4 numbers, and end with US.

Examples would be Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP + badge #), New Orleans Police Department (NOLA + badge #), and the Texarkana Arkansas Police (TAPD + badge #).

Rare Numbers

Glock also made pistols for special occasions and they would have unique serial numbers. At the beginning of Desert Storm, 15 Desert Storm Presentation Glocks with a serial number starting with UD were given to selected persons in the President Bush administration and Department of Defense. For Glock's 10th anniversary, 200 special handguns were commissioned with the serial numbers beginning with AGM.
